If we use drilling while installing solar panels, it can cause potential leaks issues and damages. This can be avoided by mounting panels on the roof using various adhesives. Today in this blog let’s explore what are these adhesives and glueing techniques to improve your roof quality.

## **Is Mounting Solar Panels on the Roof Without Drilling Possible? **

**Yes**, it is possible. To stay away from roof leaks, and damages and to maintain roof warranty, holes in the roof are avoided.

Saving time for installation: Even when the solar system is brought on time, there will be instances where we wait for the installation process to complete. It may take lots of time for the solar company to arrive. On the other hand, adhesives can be done by the user easily.

**1. Stacking:** A pedestal is used to stack solar panels in a line and that starts solar energy.

Solar panels used on RVs, boats, aircraft, or on various surfaces can be glued using these adhesives. It acts as a coalition between the panel and the surfaces.

- VHB 3 mm adhesive tape 
- Velcro roll tape
- Ethrnabond tape

### **How to Use Solar Panel Adhesive**

For flexible solar panels, you can use adhesive by simply applying it on the back and pressing it on the surface.

**Step 1:** Clean the roof surface where you should place the panel

**Step 2:** Mark the slots where the sections need to be placed

**Step 3:** Flip the panel and stick the Velcro tape on the backside of the panel 

**Step 4:** Take the sticker off the tape and press so that the panel gets fixed firmly

### **Mounting Solar Panels on Metal Roof without Drilling – Step-by-Step Guide**

Use the following steps to install the panel on the metal roof without drilling:

**Step 1:** Clean the surface roof without any debris or any dust particles

**Step 2:** Collect the brackets provided  

**Step 3:** Attach the brackets to panels with screws and nuts, and further tighten up

**Step 4:** Mark the slots on the roof where brackets are to be kept

**Step 5:** Take the VHB 3mm tape and stick it along the surface of the bracket cut off any excess tape exceeding the edges or surface

**Step 6:** Do with the all brackets on the panels, do not peel them off yet.

**Step 7:** Flip the panel onto the roof and now gently peel the tape and fix them

**Step 8:** Use the gloves and seal the brackets of the panel with Dicor manually with your fingers

**Step 9:** Make sure the back section of the bracket is also filled well so it acts as a waterproof

**Step 10:** Let it dry in bright sunlight

Now the roof is ready for other wiring and connections. Check these often to suspect any cracks.

### **How to Avoid Air Gaps While Glueing Adhesive**

There is a chance that air gaps are developed while sticking the adhesive, especially for vehicle roofs. So, to avoid this, **start by gluing the area in which air currents flow.** Use a flashlight and flawlessly cover every spot possible. For maximum results, the adhesive liquid type is preferred.

**Note**: Do not put and glue panels directly on the roof lift and set them for airflow.
