Looking to reduce your energy costs while contributing to the environment? The Queensland Solar Rebate program could be the answer you’ve been waiting for! This Solar Rebates QLD program is here to guide you to go solar and save money on your power bills. You will not only gain from using renewable energy but, with the help of this program, you will also be contributing towards a sustainable future. Let’s discuss who is eligible for solar rebate in QLD and how you might benefit from this chance.

**Is There a Rebate for Solar in QLD?**

The answer to the question of whether is there a rebate for solar in QLD is indeed a **yes**. There is a rebate for solar power systems in Queensland, Australia. For those families and small companies that qualify, the Queensland government will provide a subsidy for the installation of a solar power system. One of the solar rebates QLD programs is The Federal Government’s Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs). Queenslanders are eligible for STCs with greater values because of their state’s sunny climate. A 5kW system may save households up to $3,500, but you must have your system installed by a Clean Energy Council-approved installer to qualify for the refund.

## **What are Solar Rebates QLD?**

When you say solar rebates QLD, what does that actually mean? The Queensland government offers **financial incentives called solar rebates to encourage the installation of solar panel systems** by homes and small enterprises. These incentives aim to promote the use of renewable energy sources and lower greenhouse gas emissions while also making solar power more affordable and available to a larger variety of people. So basically, the Queensland Government offered a solar panel rebate program, called the Solar for Homes program, which provided eligible households with a **rebate of up to $3,500** towards the cost of installing a solar panel system.

The Queensland Government also provides additional financial incentives for the construction of solar panel systems. One such program is the [Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme](https://www.cleanenergyregulator.gov.au/RET/About-the-Renewable-Energy-Target/How-the-scheme-works/Small-scale-Renewable-Energy-Scheme) (SRES), which grants small-scale technology certificates (STCs) as financial incentives for solar panel installations that meet certain criteria. It promotes wind and hydro systems. Another scheme is [Regional Feed-In Tariff](https://www.qld.gov.au/housing/buying-owning-home/energy-water-home/solar/feed-in-tariffs/feed-in-tariff-regional-queensland), which gives qualifying consumers a feed-in tariff for any unused solar energy they export to the grid.

### **Who is Eligible for Solar Rebate QLD?**

In Queensland, Australia, the eligibility criteria for solar rebates vary depending on the specific program or scheme. Here are some of the most common solar rebate programs in Queensland and their eligibility criteria:

#### **1. Small-Scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES)**

This program provides rebates for small-scale renewable energy systems, including solar photovoltaic (PV) panels. To be eligible for SRES, you must meet the following criteria:

- Your solar system must have a capacity of 100 kilowatts (kW) or less.
- The solar panels you install must be approved by the [Clean Energy](https://energytheory.com/india-energy-week-2023/) Council (CEC).
- Your system must be installed by a CEC-accredited installer.

#### **2. Regional Queensland Solar Scheme**

This program provides rebates for solar panel installations in regional areas of Queensland. You must fulfill the requirements listed below to be eligible:

- Your property must be in a designated regional area.
- The solar system must have a capacity of 30 kW or less.
- The solar panels you install must be approved by the CEC.
- Your system must be installed by a CEC-accredited installer.

These are just a few examples of solar rebates QLD programs. Now, in the next pointer, let’s learn what QLD solar rebate 44c means.

### **What do You Mean by QLD Solar Rebate 44c?**

The Queensland government launched the Solar Bonus Scheme in 2008. For excess power produced by qualified solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and exported into the [electrical grid](https://energytheory.com/what-is-an-electrical-grid/), the program gives a** feed-in tariff of 44 cents per kilowatt-hour (c/kWh).** Residential and small-business customers who installed up to 30 kW of grid-connected solar PV and utilized less than 100 MWh annually were initially eligible for the bonus scheme.

The program’s goals were to boost the solar power sector, promote energy efficiency, and lower the cost of solar PV systems for Queensland residents. Power retailers Energex, Ergon Energy, and Essential Energy, which distribute power, pay the 44 cents per kWh feed-in tariff, which is subsequently added to the customer’s electricity bill. The feed-in tariff of 44 cents per kWh will **end on July 1st, 2028.**

There have been several changes since the launch of the Solar Bonus Scheme in 2008. The Queensland Government introduced adjustments on February 15, 2018, to make it clearer how customers who are already receiving the Solar Bonus Scheme may install batteries and extra power while continuing to be eligible for the 44 cents per kilowatt-hour (c/kWh) solar feed-in tariff.

### **What is The Solar Rebate for 2023 QLD?**

Clearly, you now know about solar rebates QLD, so let’s answer the question what is the solar rebate for 2023 QLD? The solar rebate varies for everyone. There is no fixed amount of rebate. The solar rebate is calculated by multiplying the STCs created by the current value of the STC. The value of STC fluctuates leading to different amounts of rebate each year. For example, the **current STC rate for 2023 is $39.90** while the STC rate for 2022 was $38.50. The solar rebate also depends on the deeming period. The deeming period will get shorter every year until 2030. That’s because the program was intended to end completely in 2030. So, there is no predetermined solar rebate value for 2023 QLD.

### **What is QLD Solar Rebate Calculator?**

To understand solar rebates QLD, first, we need to know about STC and then QLD solar rebate calculator. STC stands for Small-Scale Technology Certificate. In Australia, STCs are a form of government incentive for the installation of small-scale renewable energy systems, including solar panel systems, wind turbines, and solar water heaters. While calculating Solar Rebate, a few **factors** play a part in it which are** period year, postcode zone rating, and system size.**

There are 4 zones with different ratings. The rating for Zone 1 is 1.622, for Zone 2 is 1.536, for Zone 3 is 1.382 and for Zone 4 is 1.185. Let’s take an example to make it clear. For example, you are living in zone 2 with a 5.44 kW system. The period is 10 years.

Now, **Postal Code Zone Rating ×— System Size ×— Deeming Period = Number of STCs created**

The number of STCs created will be 1.536 **×—** 5.44 kW **×—** 10 = 83.5584 which is 84 STC approx.

Also, the **Number of STCs created ×— Value of the Current STC = Solar Rebate Value**

Now, multiply the number of STCs created by the value of the current STC, which is $39.90. So, the Solar Rebate value will be 84 **×—** $39.9 = $3351.6.

### **Who Gives the Best Solar Rebate in QLD?**

First, let’s see who offers the best solar plans. Speaking of the top plans, we have **OVO Energy** with an estimated price of $1662 per year with zero exit fees. They also pay you an interest of 3% on the remaining balance. The next would be **Origin Energy** with $1620 as an estimated price per year. It comes with a high feed-in tariff of 12kWh. **AGL** comes next with zero exit fees and an estimate of $1651 per year.

Now, moving on to who gives the best rebate in QLD? The top three companies based on the power plans are:

1\. [Energy Australia](https://www.energyaustralia.com.au/) with solar feed-in tariff varying between 6.6 kWh to 10 kWh.

2\. AGL with solar feed-in tariff varying between 5 kWh to 12 kWh.

3\. Origin Energy with solar feed-in tariff varying between 2 kWh to 12 kWh.
