There is no hard and fast rule regarding this. If you like the traditional yellowish color of a conventional lamp then you should choose warm white light (2700-3000K ). On the other hand, if you are looking for a more clean and modern look, going for cool white light (4000K+) will be great.

Cool white light **has a more blue ligh**t and thus it looks brighter to the eye. Compared to the warm white bulb, cool white bulbs have a higher lumen output. It has been observed that people from cooler countries prefer warm light whereas people from sunnier countries usually prefer white light.

Choosing the right color temperature is very important for commercial applications. The temperature depends on the product you are promoting and the mood you want to create. For example, freshly baked bread and cookies may look bad under cool white lighting but they will look great under warm white light.

When redoing their bathrooms, most people don’t give much importance to the color temperature of the bulbs and LEDs used in the bathroom, they are only worried about the costs of the bulbs.

The bathroom is among the most relaxing spots in the house. It’s a place where you spend time alone and unwind after a hectic day. This is why it’s pretty important to set a relaxing environment in your bathroom. Often, people get confused between choosing warm white or cool white for the bathroom.

Cool White light has a small tint of blue depending on the number of kelvins. In most modern bathrooms, **cool white light is used**. This light is harsh for bedrooms and living spaces, it doesn’t create a relaxing ambiance in these places.

Different rooms have different aesthetics and taste for different bulb colors. Bedrooms, living rooms, and lounges tend to work well with warm white lights. This type of lighting is well suited for evenings as it’s softer.

For kitchen lighting, often, **cool white bulbs are preferred**. They work particularly well with modern kitchens but not with traditional kitchens (mostly). ### Warm White or Cool White for Outdoor

For residential outdoor lighting, the main kelvin range you are working with is somewhere between 2500k-4000k. Remember, on architectural elements, it’s always best to use **a warmer color temperature** of around 2500k-2700k. For outdoor trees and plants, you can use cooler temperatures of between 3000k-4000k. Try using warm white for spaces you use to entertain guests. Avoid using cool white light in any of these warm light areas.

### **Using Natural White Light**

If the warm white is too yellow for you and the cool white is too blue for your taste, then you can also try using natural white lighting. This light is great for people doing **precision work** with photos, paintings, illustrations, hair color, make-up, etc.
