CSI energy storage, a subsidiary of SCI Solar Co. Ltd., will be providing solar storage products to Blackstone portfolio company in North America. CSI Energy Storage from Canada to supply 487 MWH SolBank Energy Storage Products to Aypa Power.
North America-based Aypa Power develops, owns, and operates hybrid renewable energy projects and utility-scale energy storage. Energy Storage products provided by Canadian Solar Inc. (CSI) Energy Storage will support a 487 MWh standalone energy project of Aypa Power in California. SolBank storage products by CSI Energy are a proprietary battery solution specially designed and manufactured specifically for utility-scale operations.
The standalone project is expected to be operational by the first half of 2024. With the launch of SolBank in September 2022, CSI Energy Storage announced to expand its existing battery manufacturing capacity from 2.5 GWh to 10 GWh by the end of 2023. SolBank is a lithium-iron-phosphate (LiFePO4) chemistry-based battery enclosure backed by an energy capacity of around 2,800 kWh.
The battery has system technologies like active balancing battery management along with humidity control and liquid cooling. In 2018, Aypa Power launched its first energy storage project and since then the company has been at the forefront of energy storage development. Presently, the company has more than 15 GW in development across North America. Around 2.3 GWh of battery storage solutions were deployed by CSI across Canada, China, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
By 31 January 2023, the total pipeline storage of the company had already reached about 25 GWh. With CSI Energy Storage from Canada to supply 487 MWH SolBank Energy Storage Products to Aypa Power both companies are moving ahead towards a carbon-neutral future.
