Grubhub and Joco join forces to revolutionize NYC delivery service with e-bikes for workers. With this partnership, more than 500 NYC delivery workers will get access to over 1,000 JOCO e-bikes through E-Bike Lifecycle Safety Program, backed by FDNY Foundation Educational Campaign.

Grubhub is also partnering with City leaders, FDNY, and industry partners to improve e-bike safety. They donated $100,000 to the FDNY Foundation for spreading awareness and education about the safe use of lithium-ion batteries.

Grubhub will also give JOCO credits to select delivery partners for a partial day, daily, or weekly e-bike rentals starting mid-June 2023.

In addition to its e-bike program, Grubhub intends to support delivery workers with a JOCO rest stop hub in downtown Manhattan.

The rest stop will serve as a much-needed space where workers can take a break, use restroom facilities, charge their phones, trade in dead batteries for fully charged ones, and even access delivery rider gear.

JOCO has also implemented high safety standards for their battery charging cabinets, which have been rigorously tested at a nationally recognized laboratory to ensure that they are fireproof.

Additionally, the batteries used in JOCO e-bikes are certified to the IEC 62133 standard, providing peace of mind to workers and users alike.

Grubhub is currently in talks with partners to set up a battery recycling program as part of its E-Bike Lifecycle safety program.

The company is committed to working with NYC officials, FDNY, and industry partners to raise awareness about safe e-bike use while ensuring delivery workers have access to reliable e-bikes and addressing the need for better-charging infrastructure.

There are more than 70,000 delivery workers in NYC and to curb the delay and provide a sustainable option to commute, they are being availed with e-bikes by many other companies.

To provide its employees access to e-bikes in different locations, DoorDash teamed up with several e-bike rental businesses.

Uber Eats has also introduced a rental program for e-bikes for delivery personnel in a few locations. E-bikes were given to certain of Postmates’ delivery personnel in New York City.

Domino’s Pizza, which has started delivering food in the Netherlands has initiated a program for specially designed e-bikes. In some areas, Just Eat has also introduced its range of e-bikes for delivery personnel.

As Grubhub and Joco join forces to revolutionize NYC delivery service with e-bikes for workers, it is becoming a trend for many other cities. Overall, providing e-bikes to delivery workers can improve efficiency, reduce costs, promote environmental sustainability and benefit the health and well-being of delivery workers.
