With renewable energy capacity highly concentrated mainly in western and southern states of India, there are concerns regarding unequal distribution of the same. The balanced renewable energy growth in India conference by iFOREST highlights the required overall development to achieve the country’s energy goals.

iFOREST held a conference ‘Balanced Renewable Energy Growth in India’ . All states were encouraged to participate to take action and achieve renewable energy goals. The event gathered experts, industry leaders, and policymakers. The agenda of the conference was to discuss policies for equitable renewable energy growth in the nation.

The conference coincides with the considerations of the central government of energy transition policy. Stakeholders strongly emphasize imperative united efforts to achieve regional harmony. They also promoted less use of land-intensive technologies and more use of floating and rooftop solar.

The International Forum for Environment, Sustainability, and Technology (iFOREST) released various reports to analyze the impact of ISTS charge waivers. These reports also highlight the need to strengthen Renewable Energy Development Agencies (REDAs) mainly in states with lower investments.

Recently India Says EU’s carbon tax proposal is unworkable. But why?

CEO Dr Chandra Bhushan said, “As India advances towards its ambitious renewable energy goals, it’s vital that all states participate equally. This requires significant reforms in policies such as ISTS charges waiver.”

According to Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Secretary, equitable capacity growth is important, and it will be supported by the scheduled phase-out of ISTS.
