To cater to the growing demands of solar panels in India, different companies are getting into the market. Following this, Luminous opens 250MW solar panel factory in India that will produce a variety of panels.
The newly inaugurated fully automated solar panel factory covers around 10 acres with significant production capacity. With an expandable capacity of 1 GW, the factory is in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand.
The factory will manufacture various types of panels including mono and poly, N-type along with tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) panels. Not just this, because both monofacial and bifacial options ranging from 5 to 16 busbars will also be produced.
Luminous Power Technologies with such capabilities can meet the diverse rooftop solar panel needs of residential and commercial sectors aligning with the launch of the PM Suryodaya Yojana residential rooftop solar scheme by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to the company, it took only 9 months to commission the Luminous solar factory in India. Also, it has excellent module manufacturing technologies and EL testing on the production floor. Additionally, the site will house a state-of-the-art PV module performance efficiency and reliability evaluation lab.
According to Preeti Bajaj CEO of Luminous Power Technologies, “The solar panel factory in Rudrapur is a step forward for Luminous towards playing a bigger role in India’s road to Net-Zero. Our investment in this new manufacturing facility underscores our unwavering dedication to fostering sustainable practices and reducing the carbon footprint”.
CEO also highlighted that “Solar will be a significant part of our business, and we see it as a major growth enabler as we aim to double our growth in the next three years.”
To focus on reliability and value engineering, Luminous has partnered with the University of New South Wales, Australia. Together, they will also put emphasis on component qualifications. They will also evaluate newer solar panel technologies and panel recycling methods.
