Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) as refrigerants in air conditioners are among the top greenhouse gases leading to global warming. With similar refrigerants used in heating devices the problem is severe but still demand is on rise. To tackle the demand and global warming, Panasonic brings air to water heater with natural refrigerant in Europe.
Japanese home appliance company Panasonic is bringing new Aquarea M Series R290, in September 2024. They are incorporated with eco-friendly natural refrigerants. These A2W devices are ideal for multi-dwelling stores, offices, units, along with other light commercial properties.
The new R290 is the most compact in the industry and successfully saves 30% space than present A2W for homes. They are ideal for installation in places with limited space.
According to the company, “They can be installed in multi-dwelling units, stores, offices, and other light commercial properties to address a wide range of customer needs.”
Panasonic combined Systemair’s environmental technology with its highly developed air conditioning tech. This provides powerful heating capacities to the new series. Production will start in September 2024 in the Czech Republic and in France from April 2025.
The new series is an extension to the 3Kw to 16kW R290 Aquarea heat pump line. The newer 3 versions have a power rating of 20kW, 25kW and 30kW. Also, they use R290 as the natural refrigerant.
For this the company added, “Up to now the R32 HFC refrigerant has been mainstream for A2W in multi-dwelling units and light commercial properties. But Panasonic has become the first Japanese manufacturer to adopt R290, a natural refrigerant with an extremely low greenhouse effect.”
“The new models have a compact design putting them at the highest level in the industry, successfully shaving approximately 30% off the size of current air-to-water heat pumps for homes. They can be installed even in places with limited space,” Panasonic further added.
What is an A2W Heating System?
This system captures heat from the air and heats up the water for usage. It has way lower climate impact as compared to fossil fuel heaters. Panasonic brings air to water heater with natural refrigerant, in Europe whose demand will rise shortly. Presently, their demand has increased for houses. However, in near future its demand will expand in multi-dwelling and light commercial units too.
