Lunar system by Lunar Energy is a revolutionary all-in-one hybrid inverter, energy controller, and expandable battery backup system, the Lunar System. It has a strong inverter in the main battery that can handle 10 kW of power. According to CEO Kevin, this compact and high-capacity system is unmatched in the market. The company also states that within 7 years of installation the system pays off for itself. With their user-friendly app homeowners can keep track of their power consumption, solar energy production, and backup supply. Users can join a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) to stabilize the local grid and enjoy significant savings on their energy bills.
The home battery backup company, Lunar Energy, introduced Lunar System, their first product. It is an all-in-one hybrid inverter, energy controller, and expandable battery backup system that smartly manage solar power and the grid. Also termed as Lunar’s personal power plant, it gives the user an opportunity to earn for the power sent back to the grid from their solar panel system.
You can sell excess power back to the grid and join other Lunar System owners as a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) to stabilize the local grid. With this user friendly home battery system by Lunar Energy you can precisely determine your savings percentage by considering the utility pricing plans available in your area.
Founder and CEO Kunal Girotra said during a video call, “We leapfrogged them in a big way. The video call also included a demonstration of the lunar system.†According to CEO Girotra, Lunar Systems offers all-in-one control in a compact offering with high storage capacity and the ability to control loads. There is no such product currently offered by other companies in the market, CEO further added.
We all know on cloudy days or during power cuts, it is difficult for solar panels alone to keep all the panels running. In such cases, energy storage is important. Lunar Energy batteries can power homes at night or peak times, reducing reliance on nonrenewable energy. Lunar Bridge acts like a power gateway between the battery and grid.

And with Lunar Bridge, which acts like a power gateway between the grid and the battery. Houses can switch to back up power during an outage or when severe weather is coming. With their app, switching from grid to battery power only takes a flicker-free 30 milliseconds.
The Lunar app has many features and data, but it depends on whether the users want to access them or not. The main purpose of the app is to provide you with information on your power usage, backup power supply, and solar energy production. It presents this data in an easily understandable and straightforward manner. Additionally, it provides a comprehensible report indicating the power consumption at any given moment. The app’s interface is simple, readable and user-friendly.
The application provides you with profiles that can be set up to operate the Lunar System as per your requirements. Kevin Fine, Lunar Energy’s head of engineering, explained in a statement, “Self-Consumption mode enables Lunar Birdge to meter the connection between the grid and home.”

Kevin Fine demonstrated the system in a test environment where hardware and software worked as intended. Additionally, Fine demonstrated the possibility of automatically capturing the power load of the operating dryer and resuming its function in case of a simulated power outage.
To operate an off-grid system, customers would require a large battery block. The Lunar system offers flexible capacity options ranging from 10 kWh up to 30 kWh in a single unit. Additionally, 5 kWh battery block increments in between can be done.
The Lunar System has a strong inverter in the main battery that can handle 10 kW of power. It can support electric stoves, dryers, and HVAC units. Tesla’s mini-Powerwall-looking inverter, which has a maximum capacity of 7.6kW, is less powerful when compared to this. On the contrary, EcoFlow’s PowerOcean solar backup solution, equipped with a 10kW inverter. But presently it is designated only for the European market.
This user friendly home battery system by Lunar Energy also has the Lunar Switch that automatically controls and shuts off unnecessary equipment during a power outage. It can be installed either inside a lunar bridge or in an existing breaker panel.
According to Lunar’s calculations, within seven years of installation, a 20 kWh Lunar system and 5kW solar panels on an average California home will generate enough savings to pay for itself. Lunar Energy estimates that setting up such a configuration could amount to $20,000 to $30,000.
The solar incentives in the state that were proposed in November by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), were recently reformulated. According to which, starting now, all new solar installations can take advantage of the latest Net Energy Metering 3.0 (NEM 3.0) program. By deducting earnings from the exported energy generated by solar installations, it covers the costs of installation and hardware.
Though the company does not deal in solar panels unlike Tesla but is partnering with Sunrun and other installers. This way they can handle customer’s solar panels requirements and installation. Customers can configure their own systems on the company’s website and deliveries are due in fall through Sunrun. With this home battery system to simplify solar more people will find conversion easier.
